Superbowl M & M's!!!

Packers!
Steelers!

I came across this for your Superbowl party!! You can personalize M & M's with any NFL team...personally, I think they should have added some red in the Steelers ones, but that's just my opinion.

Enjoy!!!

Playoffs-Week whatever...

Ok, I don't know about you, but I'm getting to that point in the season (ie-the END) when I
just.
stop.
caring.

It sneaks up on me every time and this year is no exception!! However, now that the playoffs are over and we have our Superbowl XLV matchups, the end is in sight and we get to look forward to some great commercials! Oops, I mean game. :)

Dakotah, Crystal, Heather and me.
This past weekend, the family and I headed up to wine country to visit our friends. On Saturday we went to the Francis Ford Coppola Winery (heaven) and generally had a fabulous time. (hence no blog writing!) See? Here we are! While the East Coast freezes, we are basking in the upper 60's. California really does have good weather going for it!

So here you go--basically, the Packers beat the Bears, Jay Cutler got hurt (so they say) and then his replacement got hurt too. The third string guy was ok, but not ok enough I guess. The Pack is heading to the Superbowl.

Over on the other side, the Steelers beat the Jets. Both games were super freezing looking and I managed to watch little bits of them while trying to chase after my two-year old and get in a much needed nap.

Some funny stories I've been meaning to tell you. Well, first off my husband clued me in to this little gem. During the AFC Championship, Mark Sanchez picks his nose and then WIPES IT ON MARK BRUNELL!!!! So gross.

In other news, people are saying that this is the first time that a player has been so rocked over a social media site (twitter) from other PLAYERS (not just fans) during the game! Apparently Jay Cutler got a knee injury but was shown walking all over the place on the sidelines and not even limping. The jury is still out on what actually happened but he got absolutely creamed by these comments. As one writer put, "seventh grade has taken over the NFL." Really? I think seventh grade took over a long time ago.

In any case, we get a weekend off from football (unless you plan on watching the ProBowl, which I'm sure we'll be watching against my will) and then it's the big day on Feb 6th. I hope you all had a great weekend and check back for updates!

Until next time...

Playoffs-Week 2!

Here is the updated playoff chart. I've also updated it in the tab section going across the top of the blog.

Week 2 (Click to enlarge)

So did you guys watch last week's games? I'm actually glad I didn't tell you which games to watch because they were practically all exciting upsets!

First off was the Saints vs. the Seahawks. As you know, the New Orleans Saints are last years defending Superbowl champs. The Seahawks? The only team in HISTORY to make it to the playoffs with a losing record. (The finished the season 7-9) Obviously, this was a crazy upset!! Next week they will face the Chicago Bears. They've actually already defeated the Bears this season in Week 6.

Mark Sanchez and his New York Jets upset the defending AFC champions, Peyton Manning and his Indianapolis Colts. The Baltimore Ravens and the Green Bay Packers were also victorious last weekend.

This weekend, there are only four games again! Yipee! I don't know about you but I love having only four games to pay attention to. Everyone is hyping up the Jets/Patriots game on Sunday (4:30pm EST). These two teams have a very long standing rivalry. That coupled with Jets coach Rex Ryan's love of talking smack should make for a pretty exciting matchup. Tom Brady is having an incredible season (playing football, NOT personal grooming), and once again, we have the 'Battle of the Hot QBs'.

In other news, a woman who worked at McDonalds in Minnesota recently got fired for letting Vikings RB Adrian Peterson use the bathroom at 3am. Apparently employees aren't allowed to let anyone in after hours. Oops. She claimed, "He's a public figure...I know him better than some of the maintenance people that come in and out." After the story went public, McDonalds gave her her job back. Awww, happy ending!

Thanks to Vern Glenn at KRON 4 Sports for the scoop.

Check back often for upcoming recipes, game day coverage and Superbowl party ideas!

And make sure you check out "The Pro Bowl Shuffle" performed by the crew on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It's hilarious!!!

Until next time...

Jim Harbaugh new coach of SF 49ers!

Jim Harbaugh--happy guy!
Here he is, folks! The brand new head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Jim Harbaugh. He accepted the 5 year, $25 million offer yesterday after a successful 4 years as Stanford's head coach.
He was also courted by the Dolphins (while they still have a head coach, Tony Sparano. Um.....awkward!) but decided to stay here in Northern California.

After doing a little research, however, I found the REAL reason he's staying....apparently Harbaugh has a two year old and a newborn at home. Can you imagine that convo between him and his wife??

--"Honey, the Dolphins might pay me 8 mil a year to be their head coach!!!"

--"The Dolphins....as in Miami? Miami....as in 3000 miles away?"

--"Well, yeah!"

--"I don't care how many millions they offer you, you are NOT making me move all the way to Miami with two kids under two!"

--"Well, there IS this deal with the 49ers 10 miles away...."

 Ha ha.

In all seriousness, we welcome Jim and welcome his ideas on turning this team around! People are also really excited because 32 years ago, Bill Walsh was hired away from Stanford to coach the 49ers. Bill Walsh is a SUPER important guy. FOR SURE drop this knowledge on your dude. Walsh popularized what is known as the "West Coast offense,"which basically means the team relies on a series of shorter pass plays (throwing the ball sometimes horizontally to receivers) instead of relying on their "running game" (when the guy tries to run with the ball through that line of mack trucks in front of them) as you see so often at the beginning of the game.

Say something like, "I know you can't compare Harbaugh to Walsh just yet, but do you think he'll get the Niners out of this mess? Think he has what it takes?"

Until next time!

**Note: Jim's brother, John Harbaugh is currently the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Don't get confused.**

The Playoffs Are Here!

...and because I love you, I've made a super cool chart so you can keep track. What's good about post-season football is that there are only 12 teams to pay attention to (and only 8 after this weekend) instead of the usual 32. Yipee!

So how it works is that the "Wildcard" games are played this weekend. The winners of those games will advance to the "Divisional" Playoffs (the games with one question mark). The winners of the Divisional games will advance to the "Conference" Championship (the games with two question marks). These two teams will be the NFC or AFC winners. The Superbowl is played between the NFC champion and the AFC champion. Simple, right? The ProBowl is thrown in there too, on January 30th in Honolulu, right before the Superbowl.

As for news in the NFL, I'm so sick of reporting about pervy Brett Favre that I'm going to take a week off from relaying his creepiness. Just know that he's being sued and probably for good reason!! I'll put it in my "What's hot this week" section if you want to read more.

Until next time!
