"Sterger" spells "Regrets" backwards!

My wrist is slapped!
Isn't that awesome? Although with the meager $50K fine that Brett Favre received today, I wonder if he even regrets his creepy phone messages at all. (Thanks to my brother-in-law, Ted, for that ridiculously amazing piece of Football Scandal Trivia.)

Laila and Gabe...cute cousins :)
But let's backtrack for just a sec. Did everyone have a fabulous Christmas/Hanukah/insert-your-holiday-here? The fam and I just got back from Southern California and had a great time going to Disneyland with the kids and checking out the parents' freshly purchased house that they'll move in to early next year. Only three of us had horrible coughs that probably woke up the whole house every night. Oops, sorry about that, guys! Check out the kiddos holding hands....awwwww.

Sterger = Regrets
Ok, so back to Brett Favre if we must. If you haven't heard, he was fined $50,000 (which equates to just under FIVE MINUTES of playing time for him--his base salary is $11.6 million) for allegedly sending inappropriate voicemails and text messages to Jen Sterger back in 2008. Apparently, this whopping amount of money (ha, ha) will be used to--get this--help fund a new NFL training program for "workplace conduct." Really?? Really??? I'm sure all those huge guys will get a laugh out of that. I'm guessing that the league wants this to go away and go away FAST because if they had to fine guys every time someone sent an inappropriate text, they could probably fund a small country within hours. I'm just sayin'....

Favre has yet to pass his concussion test and it is unsure whether or not he will play in this week's game. Read a great article about the whole Sterger mess here.

In other news, coach Mike Singletary of the San Francisco 49ers has been fired for two disappointing seasons. The interim coach is Jim Tomsula who was promoted from Defensive line coach and will head the team in their last game this Sunday.  I know that 49er fans really won't miss him. Adios to you, Mr. Singletary.

The rest of mankind (or at least football mankind) is talking about the PLAYOFFS. As for me, I haven't really been able to wrap my head around it yet because of actual holidays and family time (I know, how dare I!!!) but I'll get my thoughts on that out to you soon.

Until next time!

Week 15, Ready or Not!

With Christmas coming in six days, three weeks left in the season, two out of three people sick in our house and what feels like the 17th straight day of rain (with no end in sight) we can't waste any time today! Why does it seem like this happens every freakin' year?? Jeez. I really am starting to look forward to the week after Christmas more than Christmas itself. I digress.

On a great note, however, yours truly will be on the local news on Tuesday December 21st at around 6:40pm PT on the KRON 4 newscast. Vern Glenn will be interviewing me about Chick 101 on live TV!! Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted!!

Games to watch today:

Jacksonville Jaguars (8-5) at Indianapolis Colts (7-6) 1pm ET
The Jags can possibly win their first division title (AFC South) in 11 years if they win today. Indy's Peyton Manning has been less than stellar this season--we'll see how it all goes down on the field.

New Orleans Saints (10-3) at Baltimore Ravens (9-4) 1pm ET
The defending Superbowl champs led by "Bad Hair" Drew Brees have been impressive as of late and seem to be hungry to hold on to their title. We'll watch him go up against Ravens Joe Flacco (awesome name) and see who wants it more!

Philadelphia Eagles (9-4) at New York Giants (9-4) 1pm ET
With both teams at 9-4 and tied for the NFC East lead this should be a great game all around. Michael Vick has been super impressive after coming back from a stint in prison. Side note: YES, Michael Vick, you are doing great--doing things no one ever expected you to do. Let's not RUIN it by talking about wanting to own dogs again in a televised interview!!!  Too soon, dude. Too soon. Perhaps you should wait until next season to go on Oprah and cry about how your new puppy gives you a reason to live. Which at this point you cannot do since you are court-ordered not to have any pets. That is all.

New York Jets (9-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) 4:15pm ET
With the Jets coming off of that hideous blowout last week against the Patriots and coach Rex Ryan pondering a QB switch from hottie Mark Sanchez to Mark Brunell, we'll see if he can hang on to his job this week.

In other news...

--Packers' Aaron Rodgers will not play this week due to his second concussion after last week's loss to Detroit. Neither will Grandpa Favre. His streak has been broken but now he's got a new one going: sitting out for two games in a row.

--The TCF Bank Stadium is nearly ready for the Monday night Bears/Vikings game after the Metrodome ceiling collapsed from piled up snow last week.

--I finally watched 'The Blind Side' last weekend and LOVED it. If you haven't already seen it, rent it this weekend! Michael Oher is my new fave player.

Until next time!

The Weather Outside is Frightful...

I LOVE the snow...and my Bieber hair!
So by far the two coolest things that happened this weekend were the Patriots/Bears game played in a total blizzard and the roof collapsing on the Minnesota Vikings Metrodome stadium.

If you didn't see any of the Bears/Pats game, you missed Tom Brady and his Patriots crushing the Chicago Bears 36-7 in a freakin' crazy snowstorm. The temperature was 26 degrees with 30 mph winds. I mean, if I'm gonna watch football, this makes it a little more interesting! The best part was that on the RedZone channel, they kept cutting to the Chargers/Chiefs game in San Diego--which was 80 degrees and sunny. Apparently that made no difference to the Chiefs who got smoked by the Chargers 31-0. Ouch.

Now we come to the real story. I don't know how they managed to get this on video as it happened in the very early hours of Sunday morning, but it doesn't matter. Here it is! Watch as the snow on the roof of the Metrodome slowly breaks through the ceiling (I'm totally wondering why it's made out of what looks like plastic wrap, too) and then comes exploding down onto the field. The scary rumbling noises are amazing as well...

The Minnesota game will be played against the New York Giants in the Detroit Lions Stadium. This will give grandpa Favre's shoulder an extra day to heal since he injured it last week. Do the football Gods want to preserve his consecutive start streak? Maybe. Or maybe that's their way of saying, "RETIRE, or we'll dump this 2 ton pile of snow on your head!" That's what I think. More to come!
Until next time...

TLC Show-Wedding Day Makeover

Feeding the giraffes post ceremony
So did anyone catch the show last night? It was silly but kinda fun to watch! They mentioned my blog but neglected to say the NAME of it. Oh well. Here are some awesome screen shots...

(Although my absolute favorite part is that in the lower right corner during the whole show, it says, "Losing One of My Giant Legs.")

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Nice.

Before and After
My step dad and I walking down the aisle
In any case, it was fun to do and it will be on again this morning at 11:30am PT/ET and again in reruns.

In football news there is a game tonight:
Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans

Enjoy and until next time!

Jets take a beating

I'm coming for YOU, Mark Sanchez!
#1-Soooo, the 'Game of the Year' turned out to be a massacre. The Patriots slayed the Jets 45-3 on Monday night. So does this mean that we aren't giving the Patriots enough credit or does it mean that the Jets aren't nearly as good as we thought they were? Maybe both. We have about three more weeks to find out.

#2-Also huge news this week: Albert Haynesworth of the Washington Redskins. Yahoo Sports reports that "the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history is now the highest-paid player to ever be kicked off his team in the middle of the season"!!
So here's the story: Haynesworth signed an enormous deal last year to the tune of $100 million ($41 million guaranteed!!!!) and has proceeded to cop an attitude, bicker with the coach and miss several games for various reasons. It CAN'T be because of his paycheck, so why? Well, here is what 'Skins head coach Mike Shanahan says in his official statement:
"Despite the club's numerous attempts to persuade Albert Haynesworth to abide by the terms of his contract, he has repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time. Among other things, he has consistently indicated to our defensive coaches that he refuses to play in our base defense or on first-down or second-down nickel situations. He has also refused to follow the instructions of our coaches both during weekly practices and during actual games as well.
"[Monday], when Albert was at Redskin Park, he told our General Manager Bruce Allen that he [Haynesworth] would no longer speak with me. Although suspending any player is not a decision that a head coach enters into lightly, I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative."
Poor me and my millions....boo hoo
Whatever, dude. Get yourself together, AL!! So instead of dropping him like a hot potato like Randy Moss, the team has suspended him for his last four games. This means that he cannot collect the remaining salary for the season and can't be picked up by another team. Basically, they forced him into limbo. Kinda awesome but considering he's already made $34 mil this season, the $3.5 he'll lose next month will be sort of like a pesky parking ticket. I mean, how hard can it be to show up for practice and give it your best when you could be getting paid 100 MILLION DOLLARS??!! What a loser.

Ewwwwwww!!
#3-Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger added to his list of "broken body parts" when he broke his nose--big time--on Sunday night. This adds to the broken foot he's been playing on. Roethlisberger is one tough guy...when asked about his nose he said that at least it was distracting him from the broken foot! See the video here.

#4-The Cowboys are--gasp--3-1 with their new coach! Maybe those Football Wives can cheer up a bit now.

That's all for now, until next time!

What To Watch: Week 13

Ok, so here's what to watch this week:

Morning games (1pm ET):
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
This AFC South rivalry should make for a good game. (To brush up on your AFC/NFC divisions, click HERE) The Jags are 6-5, the Titans 5-6 and have that new player we hear so much about these days...that's right! Randy Moss, our favorite outspoken offender of words will be suiting up to offend a whole new city. Also, if you missed it last week, the Titans' Cortland Finnegan got a hockey-style smackdown by Texans receiver Andre Johnson. Maybe it was because of that name? Jeez.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
Apparently AFC West rivalries are always good.

Afternoon Games (4ish ET):
Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers
San Diego is on a four game winning streak and Oakland is on a two game losing one. Let's see who wants the win more!

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Atlanta has won five in a row now with a record of 9-2. The Bucs are 7-4 with their loss last week to Baltimore so this is a pretty important game for both teams.

Sunday Night Game (8:20pm ET):
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
This is the game my husband keeps talking about. ("It's gonna be SOOOO good.") Ok, I'll take your word for it, but let's find out why, shall we?
Steelers QB Big Ben Roethlisberger and Ravens QB Joe Flacco will duke it out to see who takes the win. Both teams are 8-3 with strong players. One to watch: See if Steelers linebacker James Harrison will incur yet another fine for his hard hits.

Monday Night Game (8:30pm ET):
New York Jets at New England Patriots
You used to be so hot, Tom
Another highly anticipated matchup. (Jets coach Rex Ryan called it the "marquee game of the year") But to me, it's just another 'Battle of the Hot Quarterbacks'! Jets QB Mark Sanchez leading his team against Patriots QB Tom Brady (or "Homeless Man" as I like to call him these days...You're a MILLIONAIRE, can't you afford a shave and a haircut? yuck.)
Both teams scored victories on Thanksgiving and they are tied for the NFL's best record at 9-2. Should be interesting!

Until next time,
Molly

Gone Fishing...

Our view from the Westin
Ok, ok, ok. You got me. I haven't been paying attention at all! But it's not my fault, I swear. The fam and I have been lounging on the beach in Maui for the past week. Actually, I would have watched way more games (they had big TVs out by the pool) but when you are chasing around a two year old, there isn't much time for anything else!! I have to say that football took a back seat but I'm home now (in the freezing cold rain, mind you) and catching up on all the news.

I'll have a post about the games to watch ready by tomorrow morning and do the regular recap of the weekend on Tuesday.

Until then, get ready to watch our wedding on TLC's 'Wedding Day Makeover' on Wednesday, December 8th at 5:30pm!

We got married in October at the Santa Barbara Zoo. Check it out, it should be pretty funny!
